Here is a gathering of information that may be useful for first-time travelers in Sweden!
Payments
Sweden is more or less a cash-free country so do not bother buying currency or changing at the airport, you will never manage to spend your Swedish Kronor in town! I have not touched a Swedish bank note or coin in ten years…
Swedes love to pay contactless by card or phone. Sometimes, you might be asked to pay by Swish, an app used to transfer money between private individuals or for small payments to companies. Tourists cannot use Swish as you must have a Swedish bank account and a Swedish identity number.
Tipping is not expected in restaurants and bars in Sweden. You can always round up the bill when eating out, you will have this option when you pay by card.
Electricity
In Sweden, power plugs and outlets of types C and F are used. Sweden operates on a 230 V supply voltage and 50 Hz, as common in Europe.
